Reception Areas:
Main reception is located on the left-hand side of the building facing the airport runway. Endoscopy reception is behind the main building on the right-hand side.

How Can a Private Blood Test Help?

A blood test is the best way to determine why you may be feeling unwell. Blood tests help with the diagnosis of many conditions. Blood tests are useful to check on your general health and check that your organs are functioning properly. They can also determine if you have an infection, condition or warn of diseases. You can also find out if you may be at risk of hereditary conditions or heart disease.

It is a relatively quick and painless process to take a blood sample. You will attend a 30 minute appointment with one of our Nurses or GPs, they will explain exactly what is involved and put you at ease throughout your appointment. Some tests may require you to fast prior to the test. We will send you the results as soon as they are available. Analysis of blood results requires an appointment with a private GP.

Can I Have a Blood Test Without Seeing the Doctor?

In many cases, yes. Some private self-pay services let you book certain blood tests without a GP or consultant referral, while other hospital-based services only accept patients who have been referred or are already under a consultant’s care. It depends on the provider and the type of test you need.

What Blood Tests Measure Cortisol Levels?

The main blood test is a serum cortisol test, which is usually taken in the morning because cortisol levels follow a daily pattern and are normally highest after waking. If further investigation is needed, doctors may use repeat timed samples, a Synacthen stimulation test, or a dexamethasone suppression test to help investigate conditions linked to low or high cortisol levels.

Can I Get a Blood Test Done Privately in the UK?

Yes. Private blood testing is widely available in the UK through private GPs, hospitals, and self-pay pathology services. Some providers allow direct online booking without a referral, while others require you to be referred by a GP or consultant first.
